When the savvy residents of Silicon Valley need a relaxing massage or rejuvenating facial, there’s only one place they go: Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Sense Spa, Rosewood Sand Hill. The luxurious retreat is one of the best in the Bay Area.
Here is what we love about it:
The size
Many spas in the San Jose area are relatively small with only a handful of private areas. They can feel incredibly crowded on a busy afternoon. With 13 treatment rooms and plenty of spots to relax, Sense bucks that trend — it’s an airy, welcoming space. The men’s and women’s changing rooms have wooden lockers, plenty of benches and well-appointed bathrooms.
The treatments
The services at this sumptuous spa feature local ingredients, ancient techniques and products designed specifically for Rosewood Sand Hill. Try a 90-minute mask and scrub inspired by the nearby coastal redwoods with a hot stone rubdown.
Whether you want an aromatherapy massage, anti-aging ritual, oxygen hydration infusion or merely an eyebrow wax, you can find it all here on the extensive menu.
For a full day of relaxation, book a Sense Spa Journey such as the Rosewood Retreat. This signature treatment is an indulgent five-hour experience that includes a walnut scrub and a full-body massage, followed by a personalized facial and manicure/pedicure, all topped off with a spa lunch.
The luxe product lines
Earlier this year, Sense Spa debuted two new exclusive lines in partnership with some world-renowned brands. Eight products from French body care brand Maison Caulières reflect the four seasons and inspire seasonal services. Everything from the body butter to the citrusy shower gel is made with natural ingredients like sunflowers, lavenders and linseeds.
The second collection is from French-Japanese label Evidens de Beauté. The extensive line, which includes cleansing gel, serums, face creams and masks, is used in Rosewood Sand Hill’s luxurious facials.
The relaxation lounge
The coed relaxation lounge is a soothing place. There are plush reclining chairs to unwind in while reading a book or magazine. A patio is particularly calming with a bubbling water feature and streams of fresh sunlight.
You’ll want to linger all day in the lounge, and we highly recommend setting aside time around your treatment to enjoy the quiet, intimate space.
The refreshments
The hotel’s en suite dining menu is available in the spa, so be sure to treat yourself to a post-treatment baby greens salad or a cheese plate. You’ll sip a complimentary glass of champagne during your visit, but cocktails and other beverages can be ordered as well.
