October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a number of the most luxurious hotels all over the globe offer you a chance to join them in supporting the cause.
Provenance Hotels
There are a number of Provenance Hotel properties in the Pacific Northwest, including the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Hotel Lucia and Hotel deLuxe. In an effort to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the brand is doing everything it can to make a difference. For October, it will have special We Heart Boobies room rates in addition to selling the “I heart boobies” bracelets and pink cocktails in its bars. Ten percent of the proceeds from these rooms and items will go Keep A Breast Foundation, a group whose aim is to further education and awareness programs that use creative expression to highlight the stages of prevention, early detection, coping and support.
The Conrad Macao is voicing its support with its Plush for Pink campaign. The Four-Star hotel is not only offering two themed upgrade packages (which include complimentary Wi-Fi, late checkout and more), but it has committed to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of special versions of the iconic velvet Conrad bears (these teddies have a dark rosy hue) and light pink rubber ducks. In addition to these items, the Macau hotel, which will proudly boast pink floral arrangements and other decorative notes, will also host a pink-themed afternoon tea at The Lounge, complete with sweet and savory treats that are, fittingly, pink. Dynasty 8, Conrad Macao’s signature restaurant, is also serving up a pink menu featuring sumptuous dishes such as vine-ripened cherry tomato with plum dressing, honey-glazed barbecue pork, and steamed crab claw and jade melon in superior soup. Diners will receive either the Conrad bear or Daisy duck, and the satisfaction of knowing that a portion of their meal tab will go directly to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund.
Peninsula Hotels
Peninsula Hotels are also turning pink this month. On October 1, each of the 10 Peninsula hotels launched the Peninsula en Rose campaign, which features a French-inspired afternoon tea, pastries created by each property’s pastry chef — we can’t wait to try the pomegranate pâte de fruit macaroons at the Five-Star Beverly Hills location — and specialty cocktails. In each of the suites, you will find limited-edition Oscar de la Renta amenities and toiletry bags. Guests at The Peninsula Tokyo can partake in a three-course lunch presented in a pink bento box and then check out a special art exhibition featuring the work of renowned photographer Keiichi Tahara.
All month, the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel will undergo its annual Bleau Goes Pink initiative, a colorful measure taken where the entire exterior of the Fontainebleau is splashed in pink by 100 high-powered light fixtures. Additionally, the Miami hotel has partnered with the Susan G. Komen’s Miami/Ft. Lauderdale affiliate for October to bring awareness to the cause through special dining, spa and retail promotions. Choose the Pink Swarovski Crystal Pedicure or Belau Ocean Luxuries treatments at Four-Star Lapis The Spa at Fontainebleau, or opt for the prix fixe dinner at Four-Star Hakkasan Miami, Four-Star Scarpetta, Michael Mina 74 or La Côte, with a percentage of your check going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Spa Mio, the Four-Star sanctuary located inside Las Vegas’ M Resort Spa Casino, has prepared three special treatment packages and is slashing 20 percent off products marked with a pink label in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Opt for a soothing 80-minute stone massage with the Warm Up on the Rocks! service, or go for a more fall-centric treatment such as the pumpkin peel add-on or the Oc-toe-ber Pumpkin Pedicure. Book one of these timely specials to welcome autumn while simultaneously supporting a wonderful foundation.
