China’s capital can add another luxury hotel to its list — New World Beijing Hotel opens today, and there’s a lot to learn (and love) about it. Located in the city’s commercial district of Chongwengmen, the hotel puts you in close proximity to some of Beijing’s best attractions, including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the retail area of Wangfujing. Choose from one of 309 contemporary guest rooms and suites, soothingly outfitted with neutral tones, light wood furniture and generously sized windows overlooking the residential neighborhood.
You’ll notice a seamless blend of modern and Oriental influences in the hotel’s design, such as the nearly 30-foot-tall slab of black granite with flowing water that greets you in the lobby, or the oversized brass Chinese locks in the reception area. With its grey slate floors, dark wood and stylish red lanterns, 8 Qi Nian is the hotel’s traditional Chinese eatery, serving food from a range of the country’s cuisines, including Hunan, Sichuan and Guangdong dim sum. A lavish eight-course Emperor’s Menu is inspired by a traditional vegetarian feast enjoyed by the previous centuries’ emperors at the Temple of Heaven, and you can choose from a selection of more than 30 varieties of tea, too. Grab a more casual meal at Tian Tan Kitchen, an all-day café with live cooking stations, or head to Tang, a lobby lounge ideal for smaller snacks and afternoon tea. The hotel’s rooftop bar, Yin, will open in spring 2014 and afford pristine panoramic views of the city while in-house DJs and live bands play in the background.
Aside from its address and impressive culinary options, New World Beijing Hotel is also equipped with a Health Club & Spa, complete with five treatment rooms, a temperature-controlled swimming pool, gym (free weights, rowing and step machines), and steam and sauna rooms. Needless to say, it’s a sweet respite in a premiere city location.
The hotel is offering an introductory Raise the Curtain package until February 28, 2014, with the second night complimentary, a full daily breakfast and wireless Internet.
