From April 15 through April 21, an impressive roster of spas around the country will participate in Spa Week, seven relaxation-filled days where properties offer various treatments at discounted prices. With such reasonable rates ($50), you’d expect the selection of services to be limited. But as we peeked at massage tables across the nation, we found a few places that had one hand on the lower lumbar and the other firmly planted in luxuriousness. Here are the standouts:
Woodlands Spa at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
Bringing a sense of Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired wonderment to the Pennsylvania countryside, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Falling Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort has showered guests with exquisite accommodations, elegant dining (Four-Star Aqueous) and a Four-Star spa for years. The latter routinely wows with a menu of unique offerings like Vitamin B-infused facials. But for Spa Week, the highlights include a purity-, citrus or peace-oil-blended aromatherapy massage, lavender body polish and a shampoo and style enhanced by a L’Oréal Power Dose repair treatment.
The Spa at the Omni Tucson National
By simply having the Santa Catalina Mountains serving as its backdrop, this Four-Star already has the proverbial leg up when it comes to painting a serene picture. With that said, it only makes sense to relax the entire body knowing that the facility is offering three 50-minute treatments over the special week: a pedicure using turquoise sage botanical products, a lift and glow facial and a signature Swedish massage. Though that last one may sound routine, the 13,000-square-foot facility prides itself on delivering basic treatments that take your breath away.
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Houston
Ask anyone who’s been in Houston for anything longer than a layover and they’ll tell you that traffic is atrocious in the city. Now, if you can maneuver your way through the downtown congestion sometime this week, you’ll be rewarded at this Four-Star hotel’s spa. With a trio of goodies on the menu — deep-cleansing Clarisonic facial, a mineral salt-infused pedicure and a 50-minute massage — you’re sure to find something to help take your mind off all the bumper-to-bumper madness happening just outside your treatment room.
