      Celebrating Thanksgiving at Luxury Hotels
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Alex Skjong

      November 20, 2012

The smell of turkey continues to thicken in the air as kitchens prepare for Thanksgiving. But if a home setting isn’t in the cards this year, these feasts from four beautiful hotels around the country will satisfy both traditionalists and those looking for a little something new this holiday:

      Four Seasons Hotel Chicago

Heading to chilly (and windy, of course) Chicago yields many dining options this Thanksgiving, but Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and executive chef Kevin Hickey are prepping a feast that makes it worth braving the cold. This holiday, warm up at Allium with dishes at chef stations, carving stations and a mouth-watering menu that includes herb-crusted leg of lamb, heirloom pumpkin bisque and butternut squash ravioli.

      Windsor Court Hotel, New Orleans

Throw a New Orleans twist into your Turkey Day tradition with Four-Star Grill Room and its four-course spread that elegantly blends classic dishes with bold additions. Roasted squash soup with vanilla poached lobster, burnt orange and pecans, as well as Tanglewood Farms turkey breast served with dark meat confit, potato butter and stuffing bread pudding have just enough kick of something different to make it a memorable meal.

      Montage Beverly Hills

For its buffet spread, Five-Star Montage Beverly Hills’ Scarpetta serves up a smorgasbord of classic Thanksgiving fare alongside a mix of equally-as-tempting, off-the-beaten-saucepan dishes. Indulge in snow crab legs or sausage stuffing before hunkering down on prime rib with barolo reduction and horseradish sauce or pumpkin tortelli. But why stop there? Head back for roasted potatoes with corn, caramelized onions and pancetta; shrimp cocktail; cured meats; and much more. And if you need something to wash it all down, opt for the unlimited mimosas, bloody Marys and bellinis (for an extra charge).

      The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead

Whether it’s the all-day Thanksgiving brunch or dinner, The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead features a 100-plus-item menu stuffed (pardon the holiday pun) with seasonal specialties, carved meats and delicious staples such as the crispy-and-creamy-in-all-the-right-places pumpkin crème brûlée. Act quickly though — reservations for both meals are required. For a great after-dinner treat, check out Lenox Square mall’s 65th annual Macy’s Great Tree Lighting ceremony around 7 p.m. directly across the street from the Atlanta hotel.
