      Conrad Hotels' Concierges Go Virtual
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

      December 5, 2012

Last month was a big one for Conrad Hotels & Resorts: The luxury branch of Hilton saw the opening of Conrad Seoul and the launch of the group’s innovative app, Conrad Concierge. Our team sat down with Tastemaker John T.A. Vanderslice, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Worldwide, to get the scoop on the sleek new app that debuted last week. Here’s what we learned.

The Conrad Concierge app addresses the fact that while people have been booking hotel rooms online for years, technology has been lacking when it comes to requesting services prior to check-in. With Conrad’s personalized, service-based app, you can do everything from schedule a wake-up call to order room service for delivery upon check-in.

Other hotels have similar apps, but the Conrad Concierge app is hotwired — meaning there’s no middleman, ergo no room for error. When you order a sandwich from room service through the app, your request is sent directly to the in-room dining team. The same goes for things like tee times, laundry services and wake-up calls.

The app is simple to use; all you have to do is put in your confirmation number and last name, and you’ll find the plethora of services at your fingertips. Vanderslice has already seen results from the Conrad Concierge, in the form of a 38 percent increase in guest satisfaction in people who downloaded and used the app.

The Conrad Concierge app is available for iPhone, iPad and Android.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
