'Downton Abbey' Tea Time at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead

Celebrating 29 years of afternoon tea, The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead is fully embracing the British heritage of the tradition (with a dash of pop culture for good measure) by offering a Downton Abbey-themed event to coincide with the show’s third-season premiere on Jan. 6.

Today through Jan. 6, partake in afternoon tea and strike your best aristocratic pose with cutouts of the popular PBS series’ Lord Grantham, Lady Grantham and Dowager Countess in front of the fireplace in the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s Lobby Lounge. In addition to the Downtown Abbey photo fun, The Ritz-Carlton is debuting a brand-new menu featuring scones and other sweet treats as part of the tea service ($44). For those with tastes like the countess, upgrade to the royal afternoon tea ($60), which includes the aforementioned items as well as champagne, whipped-cream-topped strawberries and Grand Marnier.

To further embrace the spirit of the period-drama hit, the Atlanta hotel is kicking off a “What Is A Weekend?” package in honor of Lady Grantham’s famed quote from the show. The package (from $359), valid through January 5, includes overnight accommodations in a deluxe guestroom; royal afternoon tea for two; turndown service with eye masks, two glasses of sherry and English biscuits; and overnight valet parking. The Crawleys would approve.
