Caviar and naftalan — those are the secret ingredients found in the newest spa treatments at Four Seasons Hotel Baku, which opened in Azerbaijan’s capital in 2012. The hotel’s penthouse Jaleh Spa overlooks the Caspian Sea, boasts 10 treatment rooms and offers its very own Turkish hammam, but it’s the spa’s new Luxury Naftalan Ritual and Cellular Caviar Facial that will delight spa goers in 2013.
Naftalan is a mineral-rich oil with healing benefits for conditions like psoriasis and eczema, and it’s been a part of bathing rituals in Azerbaijan for centuries. Your Luxury Naftalan Ritual at Jaleh Spa will begin with a dry body brushing, followed by the application of naftalan serum and mud before you’re wrapped up for an aromatic steam. The treatment is topped off with a warm naftalan massage and a facial using a naftalan mask.
The just-as-luxurious Cellular Caviar Facial involves another local resource — caviar — said to regenerate and strengthen elasticity in the skin. The 90-minute treatment consists of a customized facial cleansing and exfoliation, steam, extractions, facial massage, double caviar mask and the application of an eye protection and facial moisturizer — all with the help of high-end, caviar-infused Swiss Perfection products. While your face is the major recipient of the pampering during this treatment, you’ll experience a scalp, foot and arm massage, too.
The Jaleh Spa features amenities such as saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and heated loungers, so be sure to carve out enough time before or after your treatment to indulge.
