Our “Friday Travel Photo” comes from Phil Butler of Charleston, S.C. He captured this scene while sitting at a restaurant near the former ferry tower (it looks out toward the bridge over the Moselle River) with his son. Here, he explains his shot: This is one of my personal favorite places in Schweich, Germany, and the day I took the picture — a Sunday in April — was special for my 3-year-old son, Paul-Jules. He was the first to spot the rainbow and said enthusiastically, “Daddy, look! Colors!” It was the first time he had seen a rainbow. Not many people enjoy stormy weather, but in this part of the world, there’s beauty in its mysterious darkness. When the clouds part for the sun, you can see some of the most spectacular rainbows on Earth.
