      Friday Travel Photo: Scottsdale

At The Phoenician, a Four-Star hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz., we came upon this old pueblo building. Turns out, the Jokake Inn was a guesthouse for visitors back in 1926. The Hopi name — Jokake — means “mud house.” Over time, this landmark became part of The Phoenician resort, and the historic building and lawn are used today as a meetings and events space. You might recognize the inn from the 1987 movie Raising Arizona with Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter — it was the set of the character Nathan Arizona’s home.
