January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, a national initiative that began in 2007, and Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has decided to kick off the 2012 ski season by joining in the action.
The month-long event urges adults and kids to come out of hibernation to sharpen their skiing and snowboarding skills by taking lessons from professional instructors. More than 300 resorts in 32 states participate, serving up a slew of on-the-slope packages and discounts. The all-seasons Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, located on 1,300 acres in southeastern Wisconsin (90 minutes from Chicago and 50 minutes from Milwaukee) also falls on the grounds of The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva, one of the state’s top ski destinations. With 18 trails on three hills, 6 miles of scenic trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and a terrain park for snowboarding, you won’t be at a loss for space or activities. During January, you’ll find weekly deals at the Three-Star hotel, such as 20 Dollar Tuesdays (each family member can receive a $20 lift ticket, $20 group lesson or $20 ski rental), Half-Off Wednesdays (half-off equipment rentals) and Two-for-One Thursdays (get two lift tickets and two beginner group lessons for the price of one).
If your little one hasn’t quite mastered the moguls, Grand Geneva also offers programs such as Snow Cubs for kids ages 4 to 6 and Mountain Mites for those 6 to 14. Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is a great time to get them started on the slopes.
