Quaint Carmel Inn Goes Big On The Spoils
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Jordan Lawson

      January 15, 2013

SB_LAubergeCarmel_Credit_L-AubergeCarmelEscape the winter blues and head to Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, for L’Auberge Carmel’s Big Sur and Winery Tour packages. Both specials offer a two-night stay at the luxury hotel as well as Aubergine’s signature breakfast, turndown service and stylish transportation in the hotel’s new and environmentally friendly 2012 S Class 350 BlueTec Mercedes-Benz.

The Big Sur package starts with a dinner at Aubergine with two glasses of Dom Pérignon cuvée. Rest up in your luxurious queen accommodations for sightseeing adventures the next day. You’ll be skirted off down Highway 1 along the Pacific Ocean, stopping at well-known spots, and then partake of either a gourmet picnic of sandwiches, housemade chips and a Caesar salad, or a three-course lunch and wine pairing at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Sierra Mar Restaurant. End your getaway with some fine Italian cuisine, thanks to the included $100 dining credit at Cantinetta Luca .

If you’re more in the mood for some vino, go for the River Road Wine Trail package. You’ll be treated to tastings and tours at the Marilyn Remark and Talbott Vineyards. After enjoying the wines at Marilyn Remark, a picnic basket awaits you for lunch at Talbott Vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands.

The Big Sur tour starts at $2,225 for a mid-week package and $2,325 for the weekend, and the River Road Wine Trail option begins at $1,454 for mid-week and $1,499 for the weekend.
