Little Rock has a lot of kid-friendly restaurants. In fact, the city seems to thrive on the younger population. Most places have kids’ menus and activities available for the 12-and-under set.
The best known of these is Purple Cow. There are two outposts in Little Rock, but head to the original at 8026 Cantrell Road. This ice cream and burger shop caters to youngsters and the young at heart with burgers, salads, kid-inspired dishes and the most comprehensive listing of ice cream desserts in Central Arkansas. Most days you’ll find more kids than adults at this burger joint.
All-Aboard Restaurant and Grill is the city’s railroad-themed restaurant. Kids will be fascinated by the trains roll overhead, delivering meals in trays to each table as if it were magic. Parents will find themselves watching, too.
Flying Fish is a great place for a noisy meal. The general sense of humor is marked by the wall of Big Mouth Billy Bass mounts that have each been donated for the price of one free fish dinner. You’ll find all sorts of Southern dishes, from po’boys and oysters to gumbo and catfish.
And for the young one who has a refined palate, take him or her to Star of India. Owner Sami Lal loves kids and loves introducing them to the flavors of the East. The lunchtime buffet is one of the city’s best dining deals.
