The Best Souvenirs To Buy In London

You can buy all kinds of souvenirs in London, from the terribly tacky to tactfully tasteful. To pick up the latter, try these gifts:

      Toys

The city’s famous Routemaster buses only run on two heritage routes these days and black cabs come in all the colors of the rainbow, but bus and cab toys still make wonderful souvenirs of a trip to the capital. You’ll find them in souvenir shops throughout the city.

      Museum merchandise

Still on the topic of transport, the London Transport Museum has an excellent range of gifts, from large-scale maps of the London Underground to accessories featuring the classic Tube moquette fabric.

As most museums in London are free to visit, gift shop sales are a major slice of their income. Consequently, they specialize in enticing souvenirs and must-have curios. From artworks and antiques to clothing and kitchenware, you’re sure to find something to cherish.

      Food and drink

London is full of fine food and drink, so why not take some home with you?

Ale drinkers will enjoy reminiscing about their time in the city over a glass of refreshing Fuller’s London Pride. Fuller’s has been brewing beer in Chiswick, West London, for more than 150 years, and a brewery has existed on the site for more than 350 years. London Pride is widely available at supermarkets and off licenses, as well as on tap in pubs and bars across the capital.

For those who prefer something softer, tea also makes a fine souvenir (a further bonus is that it won’t add much weight to your luggage). Pop into an iconic London store such as Harrods or Fortnum & Mason and take your pick of their house blends. Decorative tea caddies make a nice addition.

      Designer threads

As one of the world’s great fashion capitals, and the home of big-name designer brands, including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and Jimmy Choo, London is the place to pick up clothing. Fashionistas should flock to Bond Street for the established names, or to Portobello Road Market to discover up-and-coming designers.
