The sixth annual Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards hits New York City on June 3. Honoring the winners of the Cornell Icon of the Industry Award and the Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award, this is one of the most anticipated events on the hospitality world’s annual calendar.

Hundreds of the industry’s most influential leaders (including Forbes Travel Guide, one of the event sponsors) will congregate to honor the Mariani family, of Banfi Vintners and Tuscany’s Castello Banfi vineyard estate, who will be celebrated as this year’s recipients of the Cornell Icon of the Industry Award. The esteemed family is a leader in the research and education of the wine industry, thanks to its efforts both in Italy and the U.S.

As for the Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award, Sandy Solmon will be applauded for her outstanding business achievements with her innovative company, Sweet Street Desserts, the largest manufacturer of frozen gourmet desserts in North America.

With Andrew McCarthy, actor, editor-at-large for National Geographic Traveler and author of travel memoir The Longest Way Home, serving as the evening’s master of ceremonies, the Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street, a dazzling events venue in the heart of Manhattan.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
