We’re suckers for a classic hot chocolate around here, but we’ve been hearing about a few fancier versions that up the ante and then some. Want the delicious details? Check out three hotels that know how to hit your sweet spot:
Four Seasons Chicago debuts its new Hot Chocolate Doc today, a mobile hot chocolate bar that is rolled up to your room. It starts with what is essentially a blank canvas of hot cocoa; you then top off the drink with your choice of chocolate sauce, caramel drizzle, chocolate shavings, candy canes, whipped cream, cinnamon and assorted marshmallow cremes like mint. And while this may be a kid’s dream, adults can spike their own drinks with peppermint schnapps, cinnamon schnapps, butternut rum, vanilla vodka or Kahlua.
The Little Nell in Aspen touts a legendary après ski scene and has killer hot chocolate drinks to match. Warm up around the large stone fireplace in the newly redesigned living room space or hit up the outside patio at Ajax Tavern and order the Thin Mint (Dutch chocolate vodka, peppermint schnapps) or the Ciccolata Calda (drinking chocolate, Tuaca, Frangelico). Each is served with housemade marshmallows that are large, soft and gratifyingly gooey.
The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert will debut a swim-up hot chocolate butler at its heated Turquesa pool on December 3rd. The real beauty of this benefit? You don’t have to leave the warm pool to get your hands on a hot drink — the butler will deliver the housemade drink to you poolside.
