Since The French Laundry is hailed as one of the best restaurants in the world, it comes as no surprise that the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star eatery expects its diners to dress the part for the special occasion that is having a meal here.
You’ll find that the dress code at the restaurant is refined, with men required to wear jackets for both lunch and dinner, and women expected to dress accordingly. Ties are optional, but T-shirts, distressed denim, shorts and sneakers are not permitted at the Napa restaurant.
Because the restaurant is committed to an eco-conscious philosophy, it’s cooled using a geo-thermal system that’s sometimes taxed on Yountville’s hottest days. When temperatures soar (usually during harvest), men are invited to remove their jackets and relax once seated at their tables in the dining room.
