Miami is a playground for jetsetters who frequent the posh Collins Avenue hotels and boutiques, but The Setai puts it over the top with its Penthouse Suite. The Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s specialty suite is not only one of the most expensive in the world — it costs $30,000 a night — but at 10,000 square feet, proves to be one of its most opulent, too.
A private elevator opens up into the south end of the suite, which echoes the same chic, Asian Art Deco style as the rest of the hotel. A striking tile floor of flamed black granite and polished Brazilian teak leads you to the suite’s best asset, its panoramas of Miami Beach. The double living room has streamlined furniture and a sophisticated earth-toned palette, but the wall of windows allow the 180-degree ocean views to set the tone of the décor. To set the tone with tunes, try the baby grand Steinway piano in the music room.
There’s a full kitchen with SubZero appliances, an Illy espresso coffeemaker and a customizable wine collection. The dining room seats 10, so you can easily throw a dinner party here.
Of course, you might want to move the festivities out on to the 4,000-square-foot private terrace for views of the Atlantic. The enormous limestone and hardwood space features multiple lounge areas, an infinity-edge lap pool, a deluxe bar and a stone Jacuzzi — meaning you won’t even have to venture to any of The Setai’s three pools or private beach to take a dip.
When it’s time to retire, head to the penthouse’s four bedrooms, including two master suites that come with Swiss linens by Christian Fischbacher, soaking tubs in black granite and touch-panel screens that control the lighting and audio. A children’s room has two twin trundle beds and a lounge area with video game consoles. The fourth room offers a queen-sized bed in case you have additional guests looking to party in Miami.
