      What’s Your Favorite In-Room Technology?
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

As we grow more and more dependent on technology, hotels are tasked with keeping their guest rooms updated with cutting-edge high-tech perks. We’ve seen everything from motion-activated toilet seats to touch screens that allow you to order food. Check out some of our top state-of-the-art amenities below, and then tell us your favorite.

      Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles

Each room has an iPad that allows you to order room service, make spa appointments and book dinner reservations without ever picking up the phone.

You can control the lights and curtains in the room with the push of a button on the VoIP touch-screen phone.

All of the guest room bathrooms have heated floors, and in the suites, toilets with motion-activated heated seats.

The rooms are outfitted with Control4 technology that detects when you enter the space. In other words, as soon as you step inside, the lights turn on, the temperature adjusts and the curtains open.

You can control the air conditioning, change up the music and review your room charges from the bedside touch-screen panel.

Push the room’s “Good Night” button to activate the “Do Not Disturb” signal outside your door. The same button will also switch off the lights and close the curtains.

Room sensors automatically adjust heating and cooling based on body heat, so you never have to worry about being too hot or too cold.

Each of the guest rooms boasts a NEC VoIP phone with an LCD screen that displays flight info, valet requests and wake-up calls.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
