August 28 welcomed the long-anticipated return of HGTV’s Urban Oasis sweepstakes, this time with the winning residence in Atlanta. With a central Buckhead location near unique eateries, suave nightlife and high-end shopping, it’s no wonder that the popular competition would choose The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta as its 2014 location. The bustling neighborhood is a great follow-up location to last year’s Urban Oasis address in Boston’s lively theater district.
Top interior designer Lindsay Pumpa was charged with styling the 2,000-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath retreat in the residential portion of the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel. HGTV also used Pumpa for the past two projects (Miami was the site in 2012). Her modern, elegant style is carefully woven throughout the apartment, creating a sleek and upscale vibe while sticking true to the “oasis” title with its reflecting pool and private garden. The separation of the two bedrooms from the entertaining space makes the apartment suited for both hosting and relaxing in luxury.
As stunning as Pumpa’s design aesthetic is, though, there are a few apartment features that need no embellishment. With floor-to-ceiling windows, a 300-square-foot, east-facing terrace and a 37th-floor location, the residence’s view is unparalleled. One winner will have the pleasure of watching the sun rise over Stone Mountain, the world’s largest exposed granite face every morning.
In total, the grand-prize winner will cash in on a bounty valued near $1 million. Beyond the tastefully decorated, fully furnished apartment, the lucky HGTV fan will receive a 2015 Acura TLX and a $50,000 check courtesy of Quicken Loans. The winner will also gain access to the hotel’s 24-hour room service, spa facilities, saltwater pool and top-of-the-line fitness center. HGTV’s Urban Oasis contest runs through October 10.
