We’re all familiar with farm-to-table cuisine and flamboyant tableside presentations that are prevalent in restaurants around the country. When we’re traveling, though, we may want something more engaging. These dining experiences will transport you to chandelier-adorned chicken coops in Napa, on the water in the South Carolina Lowcountry and more. With either selection, we promise you will be full with delicious new memories.

Luxe Chicken Coops at Calistoga Ranch
Those in the know explore wine country by checking into Calistoga Ranch, a Four-Star hotel that spills over with high-end extras such as down duvet-topped mattresses, private outdoor showers and cozy fireplaces. But hotel guests aren’t the only ones enjoying the high life. The 157-acre resort in the Upper Napa Valley takes “free range” to a new level with its ultra-luxe chicken coops that come complete with a crystal chandelier and framed artwork of fellow resort animals, like the baby doll sheep fashioned from reclaimed wood. Visit the coop any time of day to collect eggs with chef Aaron Meneghelli or a member of his culinary team. Pick what you need and head back to The Lakehouse restaurant, where the kitchen will whip up dish requests that utilize the farm-fresh eggs, including omelets, baked goods and soufflés.

No visit to Austin would be complete without indulging in a tray full of decadent brisket, ribs and pulled pork at beloved Franklin Barbecue. Luckily, when you book the Texas Boot Camp package at Four-Star Four Seasons Austin, you won’t have to wait hours in line for your feast. The two-night package (Sept. 26-28; Dec. 5-7) not only includes lunch from one of the nation’s best barbecue joints, but also an exclusive meeting with a Lucchese master bootmaker, who will work with you to craft a custom pair of your own cowboy boots. Fancy a traditional hide? Choose calf, bison, buffalo or suede in a variety of colors and textures. Those who crave something more exotic can opt for crocodile, ostrich, python, stingray and even rattlesnake — or a combo of skins and flat leathers for a bespoke look. Your one-of-a-kind shoes won’t quite be ready by the time you take your two-stepping lessons at Austin’s famed Broken Spoke dance hall, but at least you’ll know what you’ll be wearing for your return visit to the city.

Catch of the Season at Inn at Palmetto Bluff
Escape to South Carolina to enjoy the region’s pristine Lowcountry nature and cuisine at Four-Star Inn at Palmetto Bluff. Throughout your stay, embark on numerous activities, ranging from relaxing in the Inn’s Four-Star spa, paddling and kayaking through the marshes, or taking scenic horseback rides on undisturbed trails. When it comes to eating, Lowcountry fare comes alive when you book Palmetto Bluff’s seafood-rich Catch of the Season package. Board a boat to forge for seasonal specialties such as shrimp, oysters and redfish along the May River. Once you’ve secured your bounty, the captain will lead you back to one of the village homes where chefs will guide you in creating an expertly prepared meal. Another option for gourmands is to visit during November 18 to 23 for Music To Your Mouth, a culinary celebration of Southern food that’s held at Inn at Palmetto Bluff. Book The Farm package for access to the event’s pig roasts and dinners from five James Beard-winning chefs along with a three-night stay, a special gift bag and invites to weekend after-parties.
