Ready for a vacation that looks like it was engineered for the pages of a glossy magazine? These opulent properties are photo-shoot ready and primed to welcome you for the perfect getaway. From an ocean-ensconced oasis in Sanya to a hip hotel in Nashville, here are seven settings for an expertly curated sabbatical.
Mohegan Sun‘s Earth Tower
Mohegan Sun’s newest tower adds 400 new rooms to the expansive Connecticut hotel casino. The Earth Tower provides the same world-class amenities as the main property: three casinos covering 300,000 square feet; 40 venues to eat, drink and luxuriate; and several entertainment venues, including the kid-friendly Cyber Quest and Kids Quest.
The tower itself features the Bean & Vine Café and Wine Bar, a gym, an outdoor lounge with fire pits, and an indoor pool.
The Earth Tower will be home to a world-class spa come January 2017.
The Henderson, A Salamander Resort
This recently unveiled sanctuary by the sea reveals the best of the Emerald Coast. With the white-sand beaches of Destin and the flora and fauna of the nearby nature preserves, The Henderson offers the perfect setting to escape the mundane. Pretty views of the gulf, gardens or those preserves can be had from every one of the 170 expansive guest rooms and suites.
Primrose, a sea-to-table dining spot, overlooks the beach, should you need the perfect vista to go with your catch of the day. If you want to do more than just observe, organize a beachside bike ride, paddleboarding, kayaking or parasailing adventure.
The Guest House at Graceland
Elvis Presley’s legacy permeates the Memphis home of the King, and The Guest House at Graceland is certainly grand enough to be royalty-adjacent.
The colonial-style mansion exudes Southern hospitality and opulence, a theme that extends throughout each of its 450 rooms and specialty suites, which have special design touches from Priscilla Presley herself.
In between visits to Graceland, dive into the large outdoor pool, enjoy drinks and revelry at the poolside bar, dine at two full-service restaurants or partake in a little jailhouse rock at the 464-seat theater.
The Sanya Edition
Water is clearly the most important element at The Sanya Edition, the latest luxury installment from hotelier Ian Schrager. Made possible by the hotel’s horseshoe shape, the 512 rooms, 46 suites and 17 villas have private balconies affording stunning views of the South China Sea.
In case mere maritime views aren’t enough, the 50-acre property also boasts its own private “ocean within an ocean,” a rooftop pool and a mid-ocean dining venue. Xian Hai By The Sea is perched on the water, and you take a gondola to the space to dine on floating platforms.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla
Beachfront accommodations, a two-story spa, panoramic seascapes — these are just a few of the exquisite touches that will define your stay at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla. The 181 guest rooms, suites, townhomes and villas make the most of the tropical setting, with a majority of the units overlooking the deep-blue Caribbean Sea.
The peaceful surrounds extend outside of your room, too. The island resort’s locale provides 360-degree explorations of the ocean. Get a bird’s-eye view from a cabana next to the Sunset infinity pool, paddle out to the private Scilla Cay or explore the deep during a snorkeling excursion.
Pendry San Diego
Sometimes San Diego seems to take a backseat to other California destinations, but the opening of Montage Hotels & Resorts’ first Pendry-branded property might just give it a welcomed visibility boost.
The hotel, located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter, blends just the right amount of coastal charm with heavy doses of modern luxury to make for a magical stay.
Calming ocean-themed color schemes, 24-hour room service and a fully stocked minibar turn the 317 guest rooms and 36 suites into comfy little oases, but you’ll want to leave the room (at least briefly) to check out Spa Pendry and the rooftop pool.
Thompson Nashville
Located just around the corner from the Music City’s best honky-tonks and storied Music Row, Thompson Nashville fits in among the area’s attractions. The tony hotel is nestled in the middle of the super-walkable Gulch neighborhood.
The contemporary rooms and suites hit all the right notes with hardwood floors, rain showers and sliding barn doors.
Another stunner is the hotel’s rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson. After the bar bites, Tennessee beers and signature cocktails, you’ll be ready to two-step the night away at one of the many nearby dance spots.
