Planning an event in Vancouver and in need of a unique small venue? Looking to celebrate an occasion? Or seeking a distinctive suite to settle in for a stay?
When searching for one-of-a-kind accommodations in Western Canada’s largest city, start with these Forbes Travel Guide Star Award winners. We’ve highlighted a few of Vancouver’s top suites to help with your hotel hunt.
Rock On at The Douglas
At The Douglas, Autograph Collection, a Forbes Travel Guide Recommended 188-room boutique lodging set inside Parq Vancouver, you can choose from three distinctive specialty suites. While these two-level suites are all on the property’s 16th and 17 floors, they each have a unique design profile.
Apartment 108 feels like a stylish private residence. On the main level, you can play foosball or hang out on the sofa, and upstairs, you’ll find even more space to socialize around the freestanding circular fireplace, at the pool table or outside on the patio. This 1,850-square-foot unit also has a spacious bedroom with oversized windows.
Larger and more elegant, The Loft welcomes you with a grand piano and leather furnishings grouped around a fireplace. A curved staircase — or a private elevator— takes you to the upper level and a roomy living/dining area, which opens to a terrace where you can set up an alfresco meal for eight.
The designed-for-fun Den boasts even more personality. In this 2,200-square-foot suite, you and your guests can sink into the round sectional sofa in front of the fireplace, mix drinks at the bar or challenge each other to a game of pool. The two bedrooms upstairs have city views, and the bathroom features both a rain shower and a Japanese soaker tub. On the wall next to the concrete-and-glass staircase is a neon sculpture — a bright red “Rock On” that sets the scene in this one-of-a-kind accommodation.
Luxuriate at Fairmont Pacific Rim
For pure luxury, consider the two-story Chairman’s Suite at the Five-Star Fairmont Pacific Rim, the posh hypermodern flagship of the Fairmont brand’s four Vancouver-area properties. In this 2,250-square-foot unit, the rooftop terrace feels like a spa escape, with a covered gazebo adjacent to a fire pit and a serene meditation pond in view of the nearby downtown towers.
Inside, the two living areas feature floor-to-ceiling windows and an eight-foot-long Swarovski crystal chandelier, providing ample space for entertaining. The expansive marble bathroom includes 500 square feet of space for pampering with a deep soaker tub that looks out to the patio.
The suite gives you access to the amenities of the hotel’s Fairmont Gold Lounge, which includes complimentary breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres, a private concierge to assist with your stay and a terrace with views across the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains.
Live Outdoors at Rosewood Hotel Georgia
Originally constructed in 1927, the Five-Star Rosewood Hotel Georgia retains its jazz age feel with dark mahogany paneling in the elegant lobby and one of the largest collections of hotel art in Canada. Channel this glamour in the property’s two premier accommodations, the Lord Stanley Suite and the Rosewood Suite.
The Lord Stanley Suite veers more classic, with gray and gold furnishings facing the fireplace, while the Rosewood Suite’s living and dining area leans toward more modern design. Located on the hotel’s 12th floor, both units have two bedrooms and grand bathrooms with freestanding tubs, but the outdoor space truly wows.
Each offers a private rooftop terrace set up for both dining and lounging, including a wooden dining table, barbecue facilities and a plunge pool overlooking the city skyline. With all of this, you may never want to come indoors.
Stay Like a Royal at Fairmont Waterfront
If you want to sleep like royalty, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II stayed in the two-level Stanley Park Suite at the Four-Star Fairmont Waterfront, Vancouver when she traveled to the city during her Royal Jubilee visit in 2002.
Set on the hotel’s seventh and eighth floors, this 2,000-square-foot suite is well-suited for hosting guests, with a large living room and a dining area that accommodates eight people. And in mild weather, you’ll find no better place to enjoy the city than the suite’s private harbor-view terrace.
Guests in the Stanley Park Suite have access to the hotel’s Fairmont Gold Lounge, with a lovely water-view patio where you can enjoy complimentary breakfast and evening snacks, both with a focus on local flavors.
Enjoy the Views at JW Marriott Parq
If you’re in town for a sports event or concert at BC Place or Rogers Arena, the copper-clad Parq Vancouver complex is a short walk from these facilities. And at the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, some of the rooms look directly onto the former’s puffy white roof.
But for a more laid-back stay — with even better views — book the Parq Villa Suite on the hotel’s opposite side, where double-height windows overlook False Creek, and the living area opens onto a spacious private patio. Even the bathtub has a water vista in this two-level unit, with the king bedroom upstairs in an airy loft.
