Nestled amid the Alps, THE OMNIA Mountain Lodge looks like a majestic mountainside hideaway. The hotel’s angular wooded structure blends in with the alpine surroundings and the jagged Matterhorn looms close behind it.
But there’s much to see within the 30-room boutique hotel as well, from the sleek indoor-outdoor pool to the carefully constructed plates of local, seasonal cuisine at the fine-dining restaurant. And nearly every space seems to show off incredible vistas of Zermatt and the Alps.
We tapped Indonesia-based photographer and luxury travel influencer Christina Tan, also known as @SassyChris1 on Instagram, to help us explore the Swiss hotel. Scroll below for her take on the most Instagrammable places at THE OMNIA.
“THE OMNIA is a contemporary mountain lodge made by New York-based architect Ali Tayar. All balconies in The OMNIA’s rooms have unrivaled views of either the Matterhorn or the rooftops of the village and the mountain forest.”
“There’s an opening underneath the glass enclosure at the pool where you can swim into the outdoor portion. There you can take in the crisp air and amazing views of Zermatt and the Matterhorn. There’s also a Turkish bath, caldarium, Finnish sauna, relaxation room, flower steam room and fitness room on top of a spa with customized treatments using Aesop and Farfalla products.”
“This is possibly the most epic outdoor whirlpool with a view of the village and the Matterhorn. The whirlpool is heated to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and equipped with massage jets. It’s a great place to rejuvenate your body.”
“Zermatt looks like it comes straight out of a fairy tale, especially when the sun goes down and the entire village lights up.”
“Day or night, this balcony is my fave place to unwind.”
“It was so magical when I was there back in October 2019, as it was the first snow of the season.”
“I enjoyed walking down the path to the village right in front of the terrace. No matter the season, Zermatt offers plenty of adventure. There’s hiking, mountain climbing and golfing and more.”
“All rooms are unique, varying in layout and sizes. I stayed in the incredible Omnia Tower Suite on the highest floor. Inside a massive 969-square-foot turret, it has a balcony with Matterhorn vistas, as well as a living room with a sofa, fireplace and telescope. I enjoyed sitting in the living room listening to some music and watching the sun go down.”
“A combination of different flavors and careful presentation, the food was a delight both in taste and sight. The choice of wines was amazing. The level of service coupled with great food and wine made this a memorable dinner.”
