      Can You Name This Hotel?
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

      March 13, 2012

You’ve had plenty of time to study Forbes Travel Guide’s star-rated hotels, restaurants and spas. Now it’s time to put your knowledge to the test. Read through the clues below and see if you can name this Four-Star hotel. Propped on South Beach, the Art Deco oceanfront hotel (originally built between 1936 and 1938) has a 40-story residential tower that also houses 50 suites and the 10,000-square-foot Penthouse (complete with its own private rooftop pool, Jacuzzi and panoramas of the ocean). The gray antique bricks in the lobby were imported from an old Art Deco building in Shanghai, which at one time had the largest array of Art Deco structures in the world. The three pools, which lead the way to the beach, are each set at a different temperature (the lap pool is 75 F, the lounge pool is 85 F and the family pool is 95 F). If the in-room Asprey bath products and Illy espresso machine aren’t enough for you, check out the Lenny Kravitz-designed recording studio on the hotel’s rooftop, which has hosted artists such as CeeLo and Jay-Z. Its mosaic mother-of-pearl bar serves up Asian-inspired cocktails, like the signature Chili Passion martini. The restaurant churns out fresh Asian cuisine (with seasoned chefs from China, India and Thailand) in a stunning exhibition kitchen.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
