Grupo Posadas is a Mexico-based hotel brand with 200-plus properties across Mexico and the Caribbean. Its hotels range from budget options in Monterrey to lavish Forbes Travel Guide-rated getaways in Punta Cana. Its presence in Cancun’s famed Hotel Zone is just as diverse. You’ll find adult-only resorts, family-friendly escapes and some sitting comfortably in the middle for anyone who wants to unwind and dine.
But no matter how different each resort’s target audience may be, they all share one important trait: every one of them offers incredible Fiesta Americana Travelty Experiences to enhance their vacation. Each Posadas stay can add on one or more of 27 curated activities, ranging from astronomer-guided meals to private photo shoots.
Forbes Travel Guide recently went down to Cancun to check out the experiential excitement for ourselves. We couldn’t decide if we were more in the mood for some mature fun or a youthful diversion, so we elected to try a little bit of both.

For a cool, calm retreat
The ride from Cancun International Airport to Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun is typically 15 to 20 minutes, but with ongoing construction around the Nichupté Bridge, things have slowed down a bit. Work your way through the congestion, though, and you’ll be rewarded with one of the resort city’s most serene stays.
Make your way to the exclusive Aqua Club and you’ll find all the usual lounge amenities — a bar, all-day food stations and a wall of windows peering onto Caribbean Sea waters that are five different shades of blue. One unique touch to the club: a relaxing hand massage at check-in that hints at the calm awaiting you.
The Aqua Club room further sets the easygoing mode with a couch, desk area and patio overlooking the waves. There’s a daily-refreshed minifridge full of Jumex juices and Sol beer. There’s also an Acqualife water purification machine, Molton Brown bathroom toiletries and an accommodating butler who’s just a WhatsApp text away.

Outside your room, there’s so much more to see. Stop by the main pool to relax with a cabana massage or engage in a lively game of ’80s music trivia. When you’re hungry, the grouper ceviche at Azur and the spicy shrimp noodles at Hidden Garden are can’t-miss dishes.
Two of the standout experiences happen to revolve around precious pours. The first is the Ancestral Spirits Trail, a private masterclass teaching the history of native liquors and giving the chance to make your own cocktail with local labels (such as Sonora’s Bacanora Aguamiel and Chihuahua’s Señor Sotol), fruit accoutrements and glass rim flavors.
The second experience is the one for couples who love a good night on the town. The Sunset Suite Session is like your own private suite party — minus the VIP lines or overpriced table service costs. We’re talking DJ, dancing and all sorts of festive drinks. Whatever you want, Live Aqua provides, including a sun-setting light show courtesy of Mother Nature.

For family frolicking
Though sitting less than 10 minutes from Live Aqua, Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun All-Inclusive Spa Resort feels like a different world. Here, couples mingle with families and bigger groups. It’s a grander operation, but there’s a sophistication amid the commotion. And that has as much to do with the sharp service as it does the in-house floral arrangements or new light fixtures that came with the November 2025 renovation.
There are more than 600 suites to choose from here. The Infinite One Master Suite delivers more than 850 square feet filled with a plush king and an L-shaped couch for crashing. When you need a break from the loved ones, sneak away to the massive terrace or try the sound bowl ritual left on your nightstand at turndown.
If there’s someone in your group with wellness goals, Grand Fiesta Americana’s Four-Star Gem Spa is a revelation. Not only are the 40,000-square-foot facility’s amenities impressive (a 10-step hydrotherapy routine) and the service options plentiful (guided meditation, waterfront yoga), but the spa café’s green gazpacho soup and caramelized-onion-topped watermelon salad are superb lunchtime options.

Kiddos will love the Junior Explorers Academy. A scavenger hunt that Dora would even find a blast, this experience sends young adventurers all over the property to collect badges they exchange for a prize. Clues can be found with the bellman, in the engineer’s office, outside by just-planted shrubs or pretty much anywhere else on the property. It’s a fascinating, hands-on way for children to see the innerworkings of a luxury hotel.
And if you want to impress the foodie in your flock, make sure to reserve your spots for The Table. Part theater and part history lesson, this immersive evening walks you through the history of the Yucatan with live music, lighting effects, reenactments and a choreographed, multi-course meal — a volcano-shaped bowl of soup might come out while a stegosaurus trudges across the screen — that’s done with local ingredients in traditional preparations.

For life’s everyday celebrations
Devossion by Live Aqua Playa del Carmen, roughly a 60-minute ride from Grand Fiesta Americana, is another adults-only entry in Posadas’ catalog. A bit more natural inspired in feel than Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun’s more cosmopolitan air, Devossion is a sleek address defined by lush landscapes, snake-shaped woodwork and thoughtful design elements, where a row of check-in desks, a coffee shop, sitting areas and an Italian restaurant cascades like a river down a slope toward the ocean.
If you want to celebrate an anniversary, a birthday or the fact you used your PTO before it expired — acknowledging all of life’s joy, big and small, is a huge part of Devossion’s messaging — splurge on the Presidential Suite. The 1,600-square-foot unit has everything you need: a full kitchen, a living area and a bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower that’s so ample there’s a tree stump inside doubling as a towel rack. Also take advantage of the spacious terrace that comes equipped with a hot tub and splendid views of the beach.

When you do pull yourself away from your private palace, head down to the mangrove for Living Canvas, an informal artistic experience where you’re given a brush and some paint (and a few cocktails, if you’re up for it) and you’re allowed to express your inner Frida Kahlo on the gigantic canvas. Whatever masterpiece your hands come up with is rolled up and shipped to you not long after you get home from your vacation.
Should your feet feel left out of the fun, partake in the Harvest Ritual. During this unique treatment down in the cenote-inspired spa, you participate in a meditative grape-stomping exercise before you’re given a blissful foot massage and, as to not leave any senses out, a few glasses of local Casa Madero wine to taste.
The experience you’ll probably want to close the trip with is Candlelight, Wine & Music. Depending on the forecast, the sensual setup can be enjoyed beachside or in a room. Either way, the space will be filled with a warm glow, the sounds of a singer covering Sade tunes and an array of soups, sirloins and sips, making for a delicious way to end your Cancun stay.
