Christmas Dinner From Coast To Coast
By Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

      December 9, 2011

      Dining Room at Sixteen, Chicago

This year, you deserve Four- and Five-Star eats without lifting a finger, and thankfully, it’s not too late to snag a table for your Christmas feast. Award-winning chefs will spend the day in the kitchen, so you don’t have to. All you have to do is eat, drink and be merry. Whether you’re in New York, LA or Chicago, we highly suggest you check out these local menus and book your reservation soon.

      New York City
Let the infamous Jean-Georges Vongerichten whip up your holiday meal in his namesake restaurant, Jean Georges at Trump International Hotel & Tower New York. From noon to 10 p.m., you can sink your teeth into starters such as sweet potato dumplings with Parmesan jus and basil, from there you’ll move onto poached Maine lobster with saffron tapioca, Gewürztraminer and passion fruit. To finish off this $188 tasting menu, satisfy your sweet tooth with a fabulous Christmas dessert (no peeking, it’s a surprise).

      Los Angeles
If you’re lucky enough to be on the left coast for Christmas, take some time out of your sun-filled day to indulge in a delightful meal at The Belvedere at The Peninsula Beverly Hills. Between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., for $115, you can sip on limitless Champagne and chow down on a prix fixe menu with options such as roasted prime rib of beef with chanterelles, Okinawa potato-goat cheese mousse and Bloomsdale spinach topped with a Cabernet reduction.

      Chicago
Make your way to the 16th floor of the beautiful Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago and savor a Christmas tasting menu at Sixteen. Dinner is served between 6 and 8:30 p.m. with three- and five-course menus ($105 and $135 respectively). In a restaurant where the dinner menu changes almost daily, it’s no surprise that the tasting menu has yet to be released, but when we last dined there we loved the cobb bacon-wrapped monkfish with black garlic purée, fava beans, hearts of palm, shellfish and ale jus. The best part is that you can watch the snowflakes fall in the Windy City, through the dining room’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
