On December 7, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea will host a private concert that any fan of the 1998 Academy Award-winning film The Red Violin would die to see. American violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn will play classical music on the one-and-only 1720 Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius (which she also owns) that inspired the film.
The event is part of the first Wailea Wine and Food Festival, and the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel is offering it as an exclusive package that includes an ocean-view room and an exquisite five-course dinner under the stars with wine pairings by Opus One.
The Red Violin speculates on the famous instrument’s history and path, spanning the globe from Italy and England to Montreal and Shanghai over hundreds of years. The five-course menu and select vintages at this event will reflect the journey depicted in the film; highlights include lobster ravioli, Shanghai steamed soup dumplings, fried quail eggs and an international-themed cheese and dessert buffet.
The Red Violin Opus One Dinner is the latest offering in the Maui resort’s Unforgettable Events series and is $795 per person including the concert, dinner and room. Special room rates for before and after the event are $295 per night.
