International fashion powerhouse Diane von Fürstenberg knows a thing or two about traveling in high style, and she just put her own design stamp on one of three penthouse suites at Hayman, a pristine private-island luxury retreat on Australia’s Whitsunday Islands near the Great Barrier Reef.
Debuted on October 27, the DVF Penthouse is entirely designed by von Fürstenberg (she even traveled to the remote locale for the grand opening). You can see her bold signature style throughout the contemporary space, which is dressed in rich, artfully mixed textures and patterns (animal prints, modern florals, stripes) in vivid colors. Furniture pieces are clad in DVF-designed fabrics, and even the floors are covered in DVF-inspired rugs.
If you’re thinking this sounds a bit too cosmopolitan for a beach getaway, think again — the two-bedroom suite is open and airy and is flanked by a grand balcony that overlooks tropical greenery, Hayman Beach and coral-fringed waters. The resort itself is a playground for sun-seeking adventurers, with activities ranging from windsurfing and water skiing to scuba and sailing.
