Eco-friendly luxury hospitality group Singita recently added a new retreat to its portfolio of African safari lodges. The small-but-ultra-plush Singita Serengeti House sits on a hill in the 350,000-acre Grumeti Reserves in northern Tanzania, offering serene views of the area’s seemingly endless plains.
The exclusive retreat accommodates just eight people — a great respite for the traveler who wants to connect with nature but also enjoy privacy. Two suites in the main house and two on either side are connected by paths that lead to an 82-foot lap pool with lovely views. You can spend your days enjoying private, guided safaris — in a vehicle, on horseback or on foot — or simply lounging around the pool and playing tennis on the property’s court. The house is positioned right behind a watering hole that’s popular among the area’s elephants — so, onsite wildlife viewing is made easy.
A resident chef prepares the meals — with your preferences in mind — and can even arrange for picnics in the bush and romantic in-room dinners. Each suite at Singita Serengeti House offers more than enough space for two people — a bedroom, a living room, a spacious bathroom, an outdoor shower and a terrace. Elegant-but-comfy furnishings and an earthy color palette reflect the look of the peaceful plains that surround the house.
