The Autograph Collection — Marriott International’s trendy portfolio of upscale, independent hotels — is adding new members to its group, including one Forbes Travel Guide Recommended property.
The collection will welcome five new hotels, including its first properties in California, this spring. The new California properties include Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa in Lake Arrowhead, the luxury boutique Hotel Adagio in San Francisco as well as newly constructed spots Pier South in Imperial Beach and the Triada Palm Springs. The hip and historic Hotel Blackhawk, located in Davenport, Iowa, also joins the group. With the additions, the Autograph Collection will grow to include 44 hotels, with plans to reach its 50-property milestone by the year’s end. The set features hotels that fall under distinct categories of travel experiences, including “Culinary Delight,” “Artistic Getaway,” Historic Exploration” or “Sporting Adventure.” Here is what makes some of these new hotels Autograph Collection-worthy:
Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa
The resort just completed a $ 26 million renovation. It joins the collection because of its notable architectural and historical significance (it was previously the Arlington Lodge, which opened its doors in 1923, overlooking the scenic Lake Arrowhead). Located about 80 miles northeast of Los Angeles, the hotel offers 162 guest rooms and 11 suites, each with down-home decor and mountain-lodge finishing touches. The spa includes a full-service salon and modern fitness studio. Fine dining takes place lakeside at rustic-feeling BIN189, and there’s a coffee shop, Mountain Aroma, just off of the lobby.
Hotel Adagio
Originally built in 1929, Hotel Adagio is a landmark structure located in the heart of Union Square. The iconic luxury hotel mixes beautiful Spanish colonial revival architecture with chic, contemporary design. Each of the 171 rooms and suites sports modern décor and great amenities (flat-screen TVs, ceiling fan) to make you feel at home. The hotel’s lobby is where you’ll find The Mortimer, one of the city’s best bars and night spots.
Hotel Blackhawk
Having just completed amultimillion-dollar renovation, Hotel Blackhawk is one of the Hawkeye State’s grande dames. With renovated guest rooms and suites, the state-of-the-art Spa Luce and retro-chic bowling alley Blackhawk Bowl, it’s easy to see why Hotel Blackhawk is a Forbes Travel Guide Recommended property.
