As the East Coast braces for Hurricane Sandy to make landfall, countless travelers caught in New York, Washington D.C. and other coastal cities are left scattering for shelter. A number of luxury hotels have heard the public’s cry for help and have responded with storm-related room specials they hope can ease some tensions.
Kimpton Hotels realizes the impact 5,000-plus flight cancellations can have on travelers. They’re currently offering a 20% discount on all of their properties in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and the D.C. area through Wednesday. Guests can either book online or call the service desk at 1-800-KIMPTON and use rate code SANDY. Stranded Boston visitors can take advantage of $325 rates at Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star XV Beacon for the next two nights as well.
In our nation’s capital, Four-Star The Jefferson, Washington, DC has cut prices for distressed patrons as well. Deluxe kings are going for $295, which is nearly $100 cheaper than similar rooms for the following week. The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown is also discounting its rates; the Four-Star property’s $229 special includes Wi-Fi and parking.
