Live Your Baseball Dreams With MLB Fantasy Experiences
      By DeMarco Williams

      January 22, 2013

SB_Baseball_CreditDetroitTigers_RichClarksonandAssociatesThere are a couple of reasons why baseball fans’ smiles are so wide right now. One is because the 2013 Major League Baseball season will start soon. The other deals with the fantasy season going on right now. Over the past month or so, a number of teams have hosted dream weekends for men and women to participate in drills with former players and shake hands with current stars. If you’re still looking for your big chance in the big leagues, these three franchises may have open roster spots this year.

      Colorado Rockies Fantasy Camp

The Rockies are celebrating their 20th year in the Majors this coming season. Though fans will likely have a number of chances over the year to commemorate the franchise milestone, there probably won’t be a more hands-on way than this five-day opportunity in Scottsdale, Ariz. Aside from having Minor and Major League staff and players by your side — 1997 National League MVP Larry Walker participated in last year’s camp — you get a personalized locker, learn fundamentals from ex-coaches and compete for a fantasy league title. Jan. 29-Feb. 2, $4,750

      Detroit Tigers

As the team with arguably the best pitcher (Justin Verlander) and hitter (Miguel Cabrera) in the game, it’s safe to say the Tigers know how to recognize talent. While the likelihood of one of their scouts offering you a contract is slim, that doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance to showcase your skills in front of Comerica Park crowds this year as well. Throughout the regular season, Tigers fans will have a chance to play parent-child catch in the outfield, throw out the first pitch before a real contest or get a close-up look at Cabrera and co. taking batting practice. Various dates after April 5, prices start at $220

      New York Yankees’ Insider Experience

You won’t need cleats and a glove for this memorable day in the Bronx, but you’ll still get the star treatment. The Yankees’ Insider Experience provides fans with a full day of baseball excitement; highlights include a tour of Yankee Stadium, a meet-and-greet with a player and a photo op with the 2009 World Series trophy. The homerun of a deal is rounded out with a buffet of ballpark goodies, a gift bag of souvenirs and a ticket in the exclusive Field MVP section for that night’s game. Various dates, $600
