Make Your Last Days Special At These Doomsday-Ready Hotels
By Forbes Travel Guide Correspondent Caroline Patek

      November 21, 2012

According to the Maya Long Count calendar, the world as we know it will end on December 21, 2012. In light of the impending doom, certain hotels are offering special packages for the ominous date. Why not spend your last few days on Earth like so:

      Hotel Lucia, Portland, Ore.

The boutique hotel is offering a Take a Leap of Faith package for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through December 22. During your stay, you’ll be able to bungee jump from the highest jump site in the United States — at almost 200 feet. After all, you may as well cross that feat off your bucket list before the end of the world, right? Transportation via limousine is provided to and from the site, and afterwards you’ll be treated to a $100 gift certificate toward dinner at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Imperial.

Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort, Belize

Head to coastal Belize and book this hotel’s Maya End of the World package, which includes a seven-night stay in a beachfront room at the property. You’ll be able to bike around the resort (which is located between the Maya Mountains and the Caribbean), kayak in the sea, climb the pyramids at Xunantunich (an ancient Maya site) and explore an unexcavated site found in the nearby rainforest.

      The Curtis, Denver

Experience doomsday as more of a celebration at this Denver hotel. For a cool $12,021, you can rent out the entire 15th floor — 22 guest rooms and two suites — with the Party Like There’s No To-Maya package. You’ll enjoy limousine transportation to and from the property as well as a wild party the night of December 21. Aside from copious amounts of top-shelf alcohol, you can expect to find freeze-dried foods, gas masks, anti-radiation tablets and water purification tablets in the rooms to help you make it through any end-of-the-world disasters. A tattoo artist will also be onsite to provide complimentary inking.
