To toast this summer’s Olympic Games, London’s well-heeled hotel bars have created specialty cocktail menus to keep the spirits flowing. Try a “Gold Medal Martini,” with a pure gold powdered rim from The Lanesborough, or “The Unity” punch — made from five ingredients and inspired by the five rings of the Olympic symbol — from The Savoy.
The Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is offering a collection of gold-, silver- and bronze-themed cocktails this summer. Headlining the menu is the Olympic cocktail—a blend of Cointreau, cognac, orange juice and orange bitters that’s served over ice in an old fashioned glass. Mixologists at the Amaranto Bar recreated this vintage drink from a 1920s recipe—enjoy it at the dramatic, red-hued bar or from the Tenth Floor Lounge’s outdoor terrace overlooking Westminster Abbey. Other Games-inspired cocktails include the Gold Rush (a martini made with gold flake-infused vodka, Lillet Blanc and rhubarb liquor), the Silver Shot (fresh cucumber muddled with gin and lavender sugar) and the Bronze Booster (a burnt-orange mix of dry sherry, Cinzano Orancio, vermouth and orange bitters).
