Forbes Travel Guide Tastemaker Graham Elliot is no stranger to the West Coast; he’s been in and out of Los Angeles over the past few months filming season four of Master Chef. And, of course, there’s been talk that he’s interested in opening a restaurant in the City of Angels. So when Elliot announced he’s making a guest chef appearance at Los Angeles’ Son of a Gun April 8 and 9, it seemed natural.
But how did he choose Son of a Gun? Simple.
“I’ve always been a fan of Jon [Shook] & Vinny [Dotolo]’s restaurants and hit them up whenever I’m in town,” Graham told us. “I knew that they were the people to partner up with if I ever wanted to do a pop out [there].”
The Chicago chef — who has three restaurants in the Windy City, including Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Graham Elliot — will whip up a five-course dinner (with the help of his corporate chef Merlin Verrier and sous chef John Slack). The menu will stick to the style of his eponymous Chicago restaurant with artistically designed dishes boasting ingredients that burst with their true flavors such as strawberry duet with aerated ricotta and balsamic bubbles and a spin on bagels and lox with salmon confit, an everything bagel, onion marmalade and caper powder. And to ensure those flavors remain steadfast, Elliot says he’ll source as many ingredients as possible from the local markets. Each course will be paired with regional wines, thanks to the expertise of Graham Elliot sommelier Jamie Kluz.
The price tag is $100 per person plus tax and gratuity (tack on $40 for wine pairings), and reservations can be made by calling Son of a Gun directly.
