When you take a second to think about it, the worlds of cooking and heavy metal aren’t so different, what with the blazing fire and razor-sharp knives made of actual heavy metal. It all sounds like something out of a wacky Black Sabbath video.
It makes sense, then, that rock star chef Wolfgang Puck would team up with infamous Kiss front man Gene Simmons for a celebration of food and beer dubbed Rocktoberfest in Los Angeles’ L.A. Live on October 15 to 21. (See what they did there?)
The event kicks off on Monday with a charity gala benefiting the Wounded Warriors Project. Puck will serve up a twist on traditional Oktoberfest fare that night and throughout the weeklong celebration. A host of celebrity guests, live music (highlighted by a Kiss Army performance on Thursday) and lots and lots of ale will be on tap as well.
General admission ($24.75) and VIP tickets (starting at $132.75) are available through the event’s site and, while there’s no word on mandatory face paint, we’re sure no one would bat an eyelash if you showed up wearing wild makeup. Not after a couple steins of brew, at least.
