Although North America can’t claim a Dusit Thani hotel (yet), the Thai luxury brand has properties across Asia and the Middle East. The newest addition is Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, scheduled to open early 2013. Dusit Thani, which means “town in heaven,” aims to create modern hotels infused with the warmth and spirit of Thailand — we expect the Abu Dhabi location to follow suit. Here are five things about the new hotel that our Forbes Travel Guide editors love:
Its central location: The hotel is only 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport, and it’s located in the business and government district near sites like Abu Dhabi Corniche, Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
The design: Sure, the glass tower has contemporary lines and conveniences, but it also echoes traditional Thai style with subtle touches. The influence of the brand’s rich heritage (it’s been more than 60 years since the original hotel opened in Bangkok) will be on display.
The abounding food options: Diversity is the norm here. Expect six separate spots serving food, including Urban Kitchen’s Arabic specialties, The Capital Grill’s steakhouse fare and Dusit Gourmet’s housemade ice cream.
High-tech room amenities: The hotel is all about modernity. To wit, the 402 guest rooms will be outfitted with interactive 40-inch LED TVs, iPod docking stations, complimentary Wi-Fi and electronic laptop safes.
The spa and gym facilities: No mere business hotel, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi also caters to those who want a healthy dose of fun with an outdoor pool, the eight-treatment-room Namm Spa and a fitness, yoga and aerobics studio.
