On April 25, we’ll unveil our first-ever London Star Award winners. Celebrating 55 years of rating and recommending the best in travel, Forbes Travel Guide hits another milestone: its first Star-Rated European city. And the British capital has proved to be one of the most luxurious destinations our inspectors have ever visited—only Hong Kong surpasses its number of Five-Star hotels.
Just as they have since our founding as Mobil Travel Guide in 1958, our professional anonymous inspectors evaluate more than 500 service and facility standards to come up with an objective score for each location. Only a handful of hotels and spas exceed the standards to earn the prestigious Five-Star award — the highest service accolade in the industry — while Four-Star winners provide excellent overall experiences.
After more than 80 nights spent in hotels and 30-plus hours in the spa, our incognito inspectors came up with London’s inaugural class of Forbes Travel Guide Four- and Five-Star winners. Be sure to come back tomorrow to see the full list of Forbes Travel Guide’s first-ever London Star Award winners. In the meantime, here are a few other fun facts about our inspectors’ time across the pond…
