      Three Unique Hotel Butlers
By Forbes Travel Guide Correspondent Caroline Patek

      March 7, 2012

Afternoon tea at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee comes with a dedicated tea butler.

Luxury hotels seem to offer everything imaginable when it comes to service — poolside helpings of refreshing popsicles, kid-sized bath robes for younger travelers, complimentary car service in a Bentley or Mercedes. But one of the most indulgent services may be specialty butlers. Here are three unique butler services not to be missed:

      1. Fragrance butler at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. After seeing how TSA restrictions forced some guests to abandon packing their favorite perfumes, Rosewood launched a fragrance butler program in January. During a stay at a Rosewood hotel (e.g., The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel in New York City or Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver), a fragrance butler will come to your room with a tray full of scents. Sniff through options like Hermès’ Eau des Mervailles, Marc Jacobs’ Daisy or Stella McCartney’s Stella for women; and Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, Polo Blue or Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gio for men. You’ll get a free spritz of your desired scent.

      2. Tea butler at The Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee. The historic Three-Star hotel exudes a turn-of-the-century vibe that’s complete with an afternoon tea service at its bar and lounge, Blu. Until April, sit down to afternoon tea that’s watched over by a complimentary tea butler. He’ll guide you through the crumpets and scones, and teach you everything you need to know about tea (the varieties, countries of origin and the way it affects your mood). If you’re torn on what to pick, your butler will give you samples from a self-serving tipping teapot.

      3. Bath butler at Skylofts at MGM Grand, Las Vegas. There’s nothing like coming back to your hotel room after a long day and unwinding with a bath, and the butlers at Skylofts at MGM Grand take this experience to grander level. The Five-Star hotel offers a “dream bath” drawn by a personal butler (it’s an extra fee). Among the four different baths, our favorite is the green-tea soak. It’s accompanied by mint-infused chamomile tea and lemon ginger tea cookies for you to enjoy during tub time. If you’re feeling amorous, ask the butler to prepare the romance bath for two, which comes with chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne. We can’t think of a more relaxing service.
