Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s Café Causette

Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong welcomes Italian toque Burkhard Bacher as chef-in-residence of Café Causette from June 3 to 8, 2014, for the second year in a row. Bacher heads up the kitchen at Kleine Flamme in Sterzing, Italy, so he’ll bring authentic Northern Italian flavors to the table along with expertise he has gained working in some of the best restaurants in the world, including Five-Star Jean Georges in New York City and Da Vittorio in Bergamo, Italy.

During this special week, savor chef Bacher’s signature dishes, such as risotto with scampi sauce, shrimp and marinated asparagus; free-range chicken alla cacciatora with potatoes, sausage and vegetable salad; and mortadella-stuffed tortelli served with green liquid insalata and aged cottage cheese from Puglia. These items will be available à la carte alongside two- and three-course set dinner menus, which will be HKD498 ($64.23) and HKD598 ($77.13), respectively.

If you can’t make it to Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong during the time chef Bacher is in residence, you still have a chance to taste his Italian cuisine. His menu will be offered in addition to the normal Café Causette selections through the end of June.

About Forbes Travel Guide Editor Hayley Bosch

Majoring in French and Italian in college yielded some of the best food (in my own humble opinion) and vacations (everyone wants to travel with someone who’s fluent) that I could imagine. And as a Content Editor at Forbes Travel Guide, I’m able to focus on my passion for traveling and eating — with a refined palate, of course. I love to write about my adventures; it’s a way of telling my story. I seek out everything from marathons in cities I’ve never explored to restaurants off the beaten path. When I’m not eating my way through my world travels, I’m chatting with our Tastemakers to help tell their stories of travel, food and business.
