The perpetually sunny shores of the island of Maui will welcome a long list of master sommeliers, chefs and wineries for four days of eating, drinking and learning during the 2012 Wailea Wine & Food Festival from December 6 through 9.
Taking place in a host of resorts and hotels, including the Grand Wailea and Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, the festival kicks off on Thursday with a VIP opening night welcome reception where guests can mingle with the attending sommeliers and chefs while sipping on a selection of wines and Wailea pupu. Friday’s “Pinot Passion” event is dedicated to all things surrounding the Burgundy grape. The aptly named “Escape to Italy in Eight Glasses” and “DaVine Experience,” a sophisticated sampling of entrees from Maui resort chefs, highlight Saturday’s menu. Sunday’s “Wine & Cheese” is the perfect panel for brushing up on your pairing techniques for the classic combination.
After looking over the delicious list of events and roster of sommeliers and chefs, we strongly suggest pre-purchasing tickets (available in a number of different packages) because of all the anticipation around this inaugural festival.
