Why We Love the New InterContinental London Westminster
      By Correspondent Jaydine Sayer

      November 1, 2012

History buffs, politicos and those who like to gawk at them will have a new hotel to check into when InterContinental London Westminster opens its doors this month. Our Forbes Travel Guide editors found five fab reasons to book a room at the new luxury hotel the next time you visit the United Kingdom.

The ideal location: Located on Broadway in the heart of Westminster, InterContinental London Westminster is within walking distance of some of London’s most famous attractions, including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and St. James’s Park.

The swank rooms: The 256 rooms have beds swathed in Egyptian cotton linens, but we’re just as excited about the high-tech media hubs that allow you to hook up your laptop, tablet or MP3 player to the HDTV system. Suites are individually decorated and have Bose docking stations.

The American-inspired restaurant: See how the Brits interpret American barbecue at Blue Boar Smokehouse, a rustic-chic spot featuring onsite charcoal and smoking ovens. And while the cuisine is inspired by the U.S., the fresh ingredients are local.

The business amenities: InterContinental London Westminster is destined to be as loved by suits as it is by sightseers, especially with business-friendly amenities such as 24-hour business center access (which includes secretarial services upon request), a club executive lounge and same-day dry cleaning and shoe shines.

The posh bathrooms: Equipped with marble countertops, separate soaking tubs, showers and water closets, the bathrooms are also stocked with Agraria products, a luxe American boutique bath brand found at most InterContinental hotels.
