Forbes Travel Guide’s annual Star Rating announcement is always a celebratory time, but 2016 is proving to be exceptionally stellar — this year marks our largest batch of award winners ever as we enter new destinations around the world. The highly selective 58th list includes 154 Five-Star hotels worldwide, with the addition of 42 new properties from all over the globe. The list features two new Five-Star restaurants and two new Five-Star spas, too.
Forbes Travel Guide also recognized a total of 411 Four-Star hotels, 187 Four-Star restaurants and 180 Four-Star spas, as well as its list of 159 Recommended hotels and 68 Recommended restaurants in the markets it rates.
As the originator of the Five Star Rating system, Forbes Travel Guide has been the gold standard in the hotel industry since 1958. The backbone of the rating system is the team of expert inspectors, a group that anonymously evaluates properties against up to 800 rigorous and objective standards, providing consumers the insight to make better-informed travel and leisure decisions.
