Bali is developing quite rapidly these days, with beautiful resorts and hotels popping up everywhere that offer top-notch amenities and unique designs. But there’s an interesting trend on the rise with many of the new high-end accommodations in Bali: exhibitionist tubs. These are bathtubs that are out in the open, in plain sight from the bedroom and in some extreme cases, strategically located where neighboring guests can see. Read on to learn more about a handful of our favorites.
Anantara Seminyak Resort & Spa Bali
One of the first resorts to showcase an exhibitionist tub in Bali, Anantara Seminyak is positioned in a great location. You’ll find the scenic resort at the end of a quiet road between the bustling Legian and Seminyak areas, sitting across from the delightful Chez Gado Gado restaurant right on Seminyak beach. Anantara’s 59 elegant suites feature Balinese-inspired décor with neutral color palettes, Bose DVD players with surround sound and floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows. The suites’ signature terrazzo hydro tubs made for two, right next to the beds, will practically beckon you to take advantage of a relaxing soak accompanied by a gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean.
Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort
All 203 guest rooms and suites at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort boast an open bathroom where you can soak in the bath while simultaneously watching the TV in the bedroom area. But if you’re traveling with family in tow and need a little more privacy, fear not because blinds can be turned down over the glass separating the bathroom and bedroom. The resort is actually a great place for families — it’s right across the street from Kuta Beach, meaning you have access to one of the best spots for swimming and beginner’s surfer lessons, and it is also connected to the popular new Beachwalk shopping center.
L Hotel Seminyak
While L Hotel Seminyak may not offer ocean views from its tubs, we love this boutique hotel as a romantic option for couples. All suites come with Kiehl’s bath products and are decorated in primarily ivory hues with small pops of bright colors. Book one of the six Luxe Suites, each of which features open-concept bathrooms complete with a spacious tub. For an extra-special moment, ask your butler for a honeymoon setup to make sure your suite has tub-side bubbly at the ready and a floor strewn with flowers. If you’re looking for an amorous dinner to start off the night, the hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the chicest eateries in Seminyak, such as Metis, Ku De Ta and Sarong.
The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas
The hotel extends over such a vast area in Nusa Dua — an exclusive resort area — that you might end up never leaving the property during your stay, what with its numerous picturesque sitting areas, swanky bars, club and several restaurants. The luxurious Earl Suites feature marble floors and separate living areas, and views include Geger Beach and the resort’s oasis pool. But the go-to spots in the suites are the deep-soaking tubs in the bathrooms, which are conveniently placed in front of a large window overlooking the Indian Ocean, as well as the Jacuzzis on the balconies. Whether you choose the tub or the Jacuzzi, the soothing ocean breeze provides instant relaxation.
This hotel, with 308 guest rooms, including 15 suites, is just down the road from Beachwalk and just might be the cream of the crop when it comes to properties with exhibitionist tubs in Bali. This stylish Marriott Autograph Collection hotel showcases rooms and suites with balcony bathtubs that are perfectly visible from the garden and pool areas. A sheer curtain is available to close off the balcony, although privacy is left up to your own discretion. If you’d rather seek company, head to the resort’s spacious plunge pool that’s lined with loungers and crisp white umbrellas.
