Fall is upon us and there’s no better way to usher in the season than taking a trip to experience the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges lining the hillsides all across the country. We leafed through the top fall foliage destinations we think are worth a look.
Visit the Adirondacks, where pick-your-own apple orchards line the mountains in Upstate New York. And make sure you book a room at The Point, an exclusive Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star resort on Upper Saranac Lake, where you can explore the fall foliage from a different perspective — a canoe.
If being way out west is more your style, visit Aspen, Colo., for golden trees from late September until October. Check in to The Little Nell and take one of its Audis to Independence Point for a hike and to peek at the waterfalls and aspen trees ablaze in color.
The Blue Ridge Parkway offers three states’ worth of beautiful views from Southern Virginia into North Carolina and ending in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains. We suggest starting (or ending) your Blue Ridge journey with a stay at The Lodges and Cottages at Primland. The 1,200-acre resort is just off the parkway in Meadows of Dan, Va., and has prime vistas of the fall colors — you might even forgo the journey and spend your vacation here.
