La Maison Champs Elysées Paris
The first hotel to be designed by Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela, Maison Champs Elysées Paris is a fine example of the relationship between design and luxury living. Rooms and suites are swathed in a minimalist aesthetic, such as stark-white walls and tiled bathrooms only accented by a simple pop of color like a red rug. Located in the city’s center in the 10th arrondissement — a neighborhood that has seen quite a foodie revival in the last three years — Hotel Paradis was recently redone by renowned interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon. In fact, she’s also the brain behind the design of the Experimental Cocktail Group’s restaurants and bars in Paris. The hotel’s 38 rooms are modern and inviting, decked out in chic and eclectic furnishings, mismatched wallpapers and retro-inspired details such as funky light fixtures above the beds. This is the design hotel of the moment in Paris. One step inside Hotel du Temps and you’ll be transported back to simpler days reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, traipsing around Paris and spending the evening in a quaint, kitschy hotel bar smoking cigarettes and listening to jazz. The boutique hotel, the brainchild of Yoan Marciano and designed by fashion designers Alix Thomsen and her husband, Lionel Bensemoun, reopened this year with a new aesthetic and branding. From raffia-covered hallways to palm tree curtains in the guest rooms, Hotel du Temps boasts fun touches that will keep you intrigued. As you walk up the winding cobblestone streets of Montmartre, there lies a road lined with some of the most charming homes in all of Paris — Avenue Junot. Tucked behind a metal gate on this avenue is a secret passageway that leads to Hotel Particulier. Each suite of this five-room hotel is uniquely decorated with personal touches. Designer Morgane Rousseau is the main force behind hotel’s design, where each suite features the works of a different artist.
