Just because we’re in the middle of July doesn’t mean that it’s too late to impress your kids with a fantastic summer vacation. Luxury hotels that know how to treat little ones (and their parents) have created adventurous seasonal packages you can take advantage of well into September.
The Bleau Summer package has proved so popular at the standout Collins Avenue hotel that it’s become an annual arrangement, running through Sept. 30 this year. The something-for-everyone deal includes a room upgrade upon check-in at the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel, a $50 poolside credit at Fresh or Glow Bar, and a coupon book for savings at the resort’s many dining and nightlife venues. (We suggest booking a reservation the Four-Star Hakkasan Miami for a grown-up break and some excellent Cantonese fare.) And the best part of a Bleau summer? All kids under 12 eat for free at casual spots like Vida and La Cote.
This grand hotel honors its namesake (Thomas Jefferson, of course) with the summer’s Where’s Tommy? offering. While the package is filled with highlights such as 20 percent off the best available room rate, a talk with a historian, a frozen treat and a Tommy bobblehead doll, our vote for the coolest part of the promotion goes to the self-guided tour with a twist — guests of the Four-Star hotel are encouraged to snap photos with a cartoon Jefferson in front of sites around the nation’s capital and upload them to Instagram. Got hard-to-impress teens in tow? Get 50 percent off of a second room and let them say how cool D.C. is in private.
Overlooking Narragansett Bay in Newport, Rhode Island, the luxe 35-room seaside gem is a great spot for ocean lovers of all ages to not only admire the water, but to hop right in it, too. Book the Sailing Escape package (available through August, possibly later depending on the weather) to create an ideal escape for older children or, perhaps, a brood of adult siblings looking to get out on the open seas. The package consists of a two-night stay, a private three-hour sailing lesson, a sunset cruise that includes snacks and bubbly, a $100 Helly Hansen gift card, plus breakfast and dinner for two at the hotel’s lovely waterfront restaurant, The Mooring.
The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain
You can always count on The Ritz-Carlton brand to cater to youngsters and adults with the same attention to detail and exacting service standards. See for yourself by reserving the Summer Fun bundle at this Four-Star beauty just outside of Tucson. The package runs through Sept. 11 and is pretty simple: Get a $100 hotel credit for every night you book. We recommend using that credit at the Four-Star spa after you drop the tykes off with a Ritz Kids ranger. Don’t feel guilty about it, either. They’ll be embarking on a half- or full-day adventure discovering desert critters, reveling in story time and partaking in a rodeo parade.
Colorado Springs is bursting with family-friendly cheer and nobody helps you indulge in it better than this Five-Star wonderland. The Broadmoor’s Summer Spectacular Rate, which includes nature tours and all sorts of sporting opportunities, runs through the end of October. Still, we’re partial to the Labor Day Family Celebration (Aug. 28 to Sept. 2) for two, three or four nights. The four-night option includes a $300 resort credit, daily bicycle rental, a horseback trail ride or jeep tour, discounts to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and much more. Additionally, over the holiday weekend, the resort hosts all sorts of fun activities — fly-fishing lessons, paddleboat races, scavenger hunts, bingo games — to mark the end of summer.
