As we welcome the first day of the new year, we’re already wishing we could undo some of our holiday excess. While we can’t erase all that eggnog, here’s a list of three spa treatments that aim to detoxify — giving 2012 a nice, clean start.
Contour and firm wrap, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas. At the Five-Star spa, a full body algae wrap is used to increase circulation and make you sweat (in a good way). Fast massage strokes and slow movements aim to drain the lymphatic system. The spa director even told us that the nearly two-hour treatment reduces the appearance of cellulite and gives you more energy. It’s the perfect kick-off for your new year’s resolutions.
Detoxifying moor mud treatment, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Mineral-rich mud harvested from a Hungarian lake is applied to your body during this hour-long treatment. After the warm mud, which is supposed to help push toxins out of your skin, comes warm blankets. You’re then treated to an aromatic massage with juniper, rosemary and lavender oils.
Ocean fossil mineral therapy, The Spa at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. This clarifying treatment starts with a dry brushing that’s meant to exfoliate and aid detoxification. Next, an ocean fossil mud wrap is applied to pull out more toxins. You’ll end with a scalp massage and an application of fragrant oils.
