Ever daydream of getting away from the daily shuffle and finding that perfect place to relax? I sure do — I dream of it so much that I’ve been keeping track of some the places I’d like to visit during my next great escape. If I had just one wish for 2012, it would be to travel to one of the below magical destinations, breathe in the fresh air, listen to the ocean crash, explore and unwind.
Take in the sights in Santorini, Greece: Anastasis Apartments. Known as the honeymooners romantic paradise, Santorini is on my list even though there aren’t any marriage proposals in my near future. What could be better than Anastasis Apartments’ peace and quiet, spectacular service and serene location, not to mention the island’s life-altering sunsets? Even if you’re solo, it’s a cozy experience. I’ve been told to the book the White Suite if it’s available.
Explore the outdoors in Ilha Grande, Brazil: The Island Experience. A spot inspired after a seven-day hike around the island, this destination is a slice of heaven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities such as hiking, sea kayaking and snorkeling. But what excites me most about The Island Experience is its popular spa, yoga and fitness program. It’s a place to detox your body and de-stress your mind.
Ski in Aspen, Colo.: Hotel Jerome. I grew up skiing on the East Coast, so I’m just warming up to the slopes on the West Coast. But it’s been a dream of mine to ski in Aspen. During my snowy excursion, I’d like to stay at Hotel Jerome, which has a great location. I also have a weakness for historic hotels, and this one just happens to be one of the oldest in the city.
Kick back in Los Cabos, Mexico: Las Ventanas al Paraiso. I’ve had a hankering to return to Mexico ever since my first visit to beautiful Puerta Vallarta years ago. There’s a reason most refer to Las Ventanas as paradise. If you’re looking for a little pampering and luxurious accommodations, this hotel is beckoning to you. I can’t remember the last time I lounged in the sun all day, and that’s exactly what I’d do here.
